 Definition of the Internet

At the same time in different places with great distances even though people exchange information and communicate with each other. The advancement of information technology is not only felt by the business world, but the world of education also feels the benefits. The development of information technology is more beneficial with the presence of internet networks that utilize satellites as a medium for transformation. The presence of the internet as a source of information makes it very possible for someone to search for and spread all knowledge and technology including research findings throughout the world easily, quickly, and cheaply, so that the growth of science and technology is expected to be faster and evenly distributed. Thus all the information on the internet can be used as a learning resource.

Understanding the internet itself is the largest computer network in the world. Network means a group of computers that are linked together, so that they can share information and resources (Shirky, 1995: 2). The internet contains a number of standards for passing information from one network to another, so that networks around the world can communicate.

Sidharta (1996) provides a very broad definition of the internet. The Internet is the first global forum and the first global library where any user can participate at any time. Because the internet is a global library, users can use it as a learning resource.

Meanwhile, another understanding of the internet is a very effective medium in an effort to update information and seek knowledge transfer for an educator. Clueless is the right name for educators who are unable to operate computers and do not know the internet, even though in the virtual world, there is a lot of internet that can be obtained. In general, it can be said that the internet is a term used to describe the mutual relationship between computer networks in such a way as to allow computers to communicate with each other.
